Airport Repave in Phase II
The week has gone well on the runway resurfacing project and we have begun phase II. The runway is closed. Tonight we will saw cut the runway and put in a utility bib...eight conduits that cross the runway at 30" deep. Tonight at 0200hrs we will cement in the utility conduits, and pave them over by dawn. Beginning at dawn, we will have 4+ long days of surfacing the porous friction finish surface to the runway. We are planning on two pulls per day, or 15 - 17 hour days. The weather seems to be cooperating and we anticipate opening as planned....0600 on Sunday the 31st. Katie and Phyl are in Idaho Falls and will "way find" for our passengers there. They will be in the Idaho Falls airport lobby, and will have radio contact with the shuttle drivers. AllTrans is in position to begin the shuttle.
Please don't hesitate to call me if you have any passengers who need assistance, (307) 413-1514.

Airport Repave Ahead of Schedule
The runway repave has gone exceptionally well. We are about four days ahead of schedule.
You may recall that we close the runway each night and reopen every morning. Each night we hope to have one pull. That is a 2" grind, and re-pave of base asphalt, of the entire length of the runway. One pull per day is about the maximum that we can accomplish.
The new surface is matched to the old and repainted for the "day time" opening and use of the runway. After the runway is completely redone, we come in and do the finish of the porous friction surface. That finish is scheduled for the complete closure starting on the evening of May 25th
We have completed all but the two centerline pulls. That should easily be completed by Friday evening. The weather tonight is expected to be excellent. We should continue to have some minor shoulder activity and prepare for the complete closure on May 25th.

Free Shuttle Service Eases Short-term Airport Closure in Jackson, Wyoming
Jackson Hole, WY - The Jackson Hole Airport Board announced yesterday, they have selected a contractor for resurfacing the runway. Nightly work will begin on May 4 followed by a full airport closure starting at 6:00pm Monday, May 25 and reopening at 6:00am Sunday, May 31 (weather dependent).
During this closure, airlines will be rerouting guests to Idaho Falls Regional Airport, located 87 miles west of Jackson, Wyoming. Enhanced transportation services will be provided to guests traveling to Jackson Hole via rental cars and shuttles. The Jackson Hole Airport rental car companies limited rental car drop off fees to $20.00 or less. Additionally, during this timeframe fees normally associated with airline ticket changes have been waived.
"Airports typically resurface runways every 10-15 years so this is not unusual; however, we found premature shredding which influenced us to move forward with the paving project earlier than expected," Said Ray Bishop, Director of Jackson Hole Airport. "We understand that this is an inconvenience to the community and visitors to our region but we strive to provide the highest quality of service and safety."
To further ease this transition, the Jackson Hole Airport Board voted to subsidize transportation services to be provided by AllTrans, Inc. This will ensure travelers complimentary transportation between Idaho Falls Regional Airport and Jackson Hole Airport during the scheduled closure dates. Advanced reservations are recommended and can be made by calling (800) 443-6133 or (307) 733-3135.
Bishop applauded everyone involved, "I am delighted with the professionalism and teamwork that has surrounded this project. Everyone from the team of contractors to the valley's transportation services have come together to make the process as seamless as possible."
