2008 Featured Artist Greg Beecham

Greg Beecham has been painting full time for twenty-eight years, being specialized in wildlife art. Greg's vision is to "sculpt with paint" – that is to paint in such a way that there is not only the illusion of dimension, but genuine depth to the paint itself. He believes that if he can speak with paint more than detail, that the net result will be a life expressing realism.

Greg lives in the Wyoming Rockies with his wife Lu; son, Sam; and daughter, Sarah. He and his family enjoy riding their horses, hunting, cowboying, and watching the wildlife. As a Christian, Beecham honors the sanctity of life and the beauty of nature. His motto is "Do all things as unto the Lord, and get so good you can't be ignored."

As an artist who is now in the national spotlight, Greg has also been featured in recent articles in Art of the West, Southwest Art, Wildlife Art, and Sporting Classics magazines. He has also been the cover artist on Wildlife Art, U.S. Art, and Safari Club publications as well as being featured in the book Wildlife Art: 60 Contemporary Masters and Their Work by Joan Pursley.

Greg is represented locally at Astoria Fine Art located at 35 E. Deloney Ave.  307-733-4016

Capturing the Essence
Regional Photographs 1850 -1940
There's no question that the advent of the photograph and the westward expansion of our country were one of the most beneficial coincidences in history. If it were not for the photographers of the west, many stories of wonder would have been dismissed as exaggeration or fantasy, including the geysers of Yellowstone, the many diverse Native American groups, and the lifestyle of cowboys. Cayuse has gathered photographs ranging from the mid-1800's to the 1940's depicting the beautiful and sometimes harsh land, and the lives it supported in the Northern Rocky Mountain region.  The show opens September 12th for Palates & Palettes, and will run through the end of September.

A Horse of a Different Color
Using over 6,000 extremely fine glass threads (canes), Carole Perry produces glass sculptures that explode with color and texture. A piece begins with the cane, cut and layered (at least 9 layers) in a weave pattern on a kiln shelf. The shelf is carefully put into the kiln where it is heated slowly to near 1500 degrees. When the piece has "just fused" into a single unit, it is removed from the kiln and hand manipulated into its final shape. Carole has been published most recently in Southwest Art, "The Innovators: Glass that Fools the Eye", Dec. 2007. Her glass is included in many public and private collections.
