In November of 2006, Mayor Mark Barron signed the U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement, making Jackson the first city in Wyoming to commit to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Along with similar efforts by Teton County beginning with passing a resolution on global warming in 2004 and the recent formation of an advisory council on energy efficiency and environmental projects, these acts have galvanized our community of residents and businesses to take action to become more sustainable.
The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce is leading the business community in educational and promotional efforts to adopt sustainable business practices in their operations. These practices include energy efficiency, waste management, and purchasing of environmentally compatible products. In partnership with other organizations and government agencies, and consistent with its brand of "respecting the power of place", the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce is taking the initiative to encourage businesses and the entire community to work towards a triple bottom line of a healthy economy, community, and environment.
