The Snake River is the thirteenth longest river in the United States, spanning almost 108,000 square miles. The first American group to cross the Rocky Mountains and sail down the Snake and Columbia rivers to the Pacific Ocean were par of the Lewis and Clark Expedition from 1804–1806. In addition to small aquatic species, much of the Snake River watershed supports larger animals including numerous species of mammals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles. The Snake River is enjoyed by animals and humans alike. Revil in the scenic beauty and be inspired by the wildlife on a scenic float trip tour. For you thrill-seekers you must have a whitewater rafting adventure. Or, rent your own canoe, kayak, or stand-up-paddle board to experience the Snake on your own.
