On the sixth day of Christmas my small town sold to me...gifts for the dog-lover!
By Director of Special Events Maureen Murphy
A dog fix can calm anyone’s day, especially with all of the stress of the Christmas season. Head over to the Animal Adoption Center or the Jackson-Teton County Animal Shelter and volunteer to take a dog for a walk. Foster opportunities are also available.
If your pup needs a play date, take them down to DogJax for the day. See the photo at the top of this page and check their Facebook page to get a look at the fun. If you’re planning to be out of town, or if you’re trying to convince a Jackson local to leave town for a visit, DogJax can help. Boarding is available for dogs and cats.
Do you know a dog who really loves to be pampered? Check out Mountain Mutts. They offer everything from basic grooming to K9 nail painting! They’ll even add a holiday-themed scarf to for an extra-special touch. Teton Tails has more fabulous seasonal gear. My dog Lizzie has a very fashionable scarf! They also have healthy snacks and fun toys for the furry friends in your life.
Exercise is another great way to ease those holiday tensions. Groomed pathways at Emily’s Pond or Cache Creek offer a fun way for dog-lovers and their companions to stretch their legs. Both trails are conveniently close to town and are also good for Nordic skiing and fat biking. Gear is available to rent or buy at Skinny Skis and Teton Mountain Bike Tours. While recreating with your pup, remember to follow the appropriate leash laws and show good trail etiquette! Check out the resources from PAWS. More winter trail information is available from Jackson Hole Nordic Alliance.
If you are looking for the gift to someone who has everything and loves their pets, give a donation to PAWS and help with their mission of enriching relationships between people and companion animals to create a better, pet friendly community for all.
