As June comes to a close, I can’t believe I only have one more month in this place and of this life I’m living here in Jackson. I’m trying to soak up every last day of it. Last Saturday I went hiking at Phelps Lake, followed by happy hour at Dornan’s. It was a fun, relatively easy hike, but I made the detrimental decision of wearing Chacos rather than my hiking shoes, and therefore had to spend the last half of the hike walking on my tiptoes because my blisters were so bad. You live and learn, I guess. On Sunday I attended the annual Bondurant Community BBQ with my aunt and uncle, who have a cabin in that area. Nothing like pulled pork, coleslaw, and baked beans to reaffirm an authentic American summer.
On Wednesday I attended the monthly Chamber board meeting. It was held at The Wort and consisted of a delicious lunch and numerous presentations from board members on everything from Yellowstone updates to bear stories to July 4th parade reminders. Several outgoing board members were honored with awards as well. Julie Faupel completed her term as Past Chair, Joe Madera completed his term as Chair as Tim Harland begins his term as Chair, and Adam Meyer begins his first year on the Executive Committee as Treasurer.
On Thursday I conducted two interviews for my Humans of JH Chamber project, with Kendra Heimbuck from Habitat for Humanity and Danielle Haigh from Pursue Movement Studio. Learn about these awesome women and the stories of their respective businesses here and here. Follow @jhchamber on Instagram so you don’t miss any #humansofjhchamber posts!
Other highlights of the week included my first mountain biking experience, an impromptu karaoke night at the Virginian, a Thursday evening Chamber mixer at the Bank of Jackson Hole catered by Bubba’s, and the matcha tea latte from Picnic that I’m enjoying right now as I write this.
Happy 4th of July weekend!!
