Announcing the 2021 Parade Winners!
Before we announce our 2021 4th of July Parade winners, we have to take a moment to thank ALL the floats who came out to celebrate and the incredible crowd who cheered them on!
After 15 months apart and 3 canceled parades, the 2021 4th of July Parade felt like a homecoming. Early in the morning, camp chairs and blankets lined the streets of downtown Jackson in anticipation. By 9:30 am, music was rocking, the announcers were getting the crowd going, and kids played in the streets. "From where I stood on RARE Gallery's deck, Jackson felt alive that morning," said Britney Magleby, Director of Events for the Chamber of Commerce. "It felt good to have the community together in-person again to support one another."
At 10 am, 50 floats departed the Jackson Hole Rodeo grounds, escorted by The Jackson Hole Police Department and the Teton County Sheriff's Department. As they reached Town Square, the American Legion presented the colors and the Jackson Hole Community Band played the National Anthem.
Next came the floats! They came all shapes and sizes, all colors and varieties.
Jackson Hole Classic Cars
Jackson Hole Farmer's Market passed out ears of corn as they went by!
Teton County Fair & Rodeo Royalty
Jackson Hole Jeep Club out in force
Timberline Logging and Tree Services
Thank you to each and every individual and organization who joined this Jackson Hole 4th of July tradition. With all the joy surrounding the entire parade, it was near impossible to award just three winners. Two judges from Verticla Harvest were assigned the very difficult task, and they took it head on! So with no further ado...
...drum roll please...
Your 2021 4th of July Parade winners are:
1. LGBTQ+ for their recruitment (we counted over 30 walkers!), inclusivity, and ability to work the crowd. They received a huge, warm welcome as they walked fiercely by Town Square!
2. Hot Tub Truck Club. It was only their second year in the parade and they were already a clear crowd favorite. The judges chose them for their creativity, enthusiasm, and, of course, the music.
3. The Jackson Hole Sting Rays Swim Club. It was their unison cheering that won the crowd, and judges, over.
Honorable mentions include Uncle Sam and the Statue of Liberty (we have to recognize anyone who walks a quarter mile on stilts!), Jackson Hole Horse Rescue (their mission is incredible and we love seeing it in action), and the Community Band (its incredible that an all-volunteer group sounds that good!).
Happy 4th of July, Jackson! See you next year, Monday, July 4, 2022 for another celebration.
