Meet Jamie Yarrow, the Founder and CEO of The Yarrow Group, who will tell us the story of this notable addition to the valley. The Yarrow Group is the hospitality arm of Crystal Creek Capital, the owner operators of The Cloudveil, Springhill Suites Marriot, Mountain Modern Motel and the Jackson Hole Lodge– properties that together offer lodging for every budget.
The Cloudveil is special to Jamie because the Crystal Creek Capital team has designed and built the luxury property from the ground up. The team has put an incredible amount of thought and intention into every detail and could not contain their excitement when they toured the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce staff.
The Cloudveil aims to capture a true sense of place and offer a modern sanctuary inspired by the organic elements of its locale. Jamie said that,
“The Cloudveil will reflect and tell the stories of the amazing people while bringing elements of the destination in. Guests will delight to find elements of nature throughout the hotel, including a three-story wall made of granite, aspen trees used as contemporary walls, bison pelt chairs in the lobby, real bark behind the number at every room, larger-than-life destination-inspired artwork, and so much more.”
Home to Town Square’s only rooftop terrace, The Cloudveil’s expansive open-air rooftop terrace will eventually offer ongoing community programming such as daybreak yoga and meditation, live music, and stargazing.
Jamie shared, “I want people to understand that The Cloudveil has been built by locals for locals. We hope the local community will embrace it as their own.”
Acclaimed restaurateur Gavin Fine of Fine Dining Restaurant Group will also helm all of the culinary offerings at the hotel including at signature restaurant The Bistro, bringing a casual, yet refined bistro menu and an expansive raw bar to Jackson’s Town Square where guests and locals can expect European-style outdoor dining amidst the area’s iconic mountain vistas.
When I asked Jamie what is his favorite part about The Cloudveil I expected him to have to think for a while. Again, every component of the space was selected with great thought and care. The Bistro was the very first restaurant Jamie and his wife dined at in Jackson, so I thought that might be his response.
I could not have been more off. He responded immediately,
“It's the team that we've built. We want to be amongst the best employers in Jackson. If you have a great attitude and you’re willing to learn from the people around you, there's no reason why you can't start as a bellman or housekeeper and eventually become a supervisor or manager, even general manager. You have to want it—you have to work hard for it and nothing in this building is given to you.”
And this hypothetical, is quite literally Jamie’s professional story. He started with the Four Seasons as a lifeguard and he didn’t go to school for hospitality. 20 years later Jamie became the youngest general manager with the Four Seasons. He said, “I had to learn every trade in these hotels. There's not a job in these hotels that I haven't done…some well, some horribly. Do not put me back in a kitchen.”
I left our conversation excited for a future girls’ dinner at The Bistro and an evening on The Cloudveil’s roof-top deck. I didn’t expect to feel empowered about the professional opportunities for growth that exist in the world. Thank you Jamie and see you at The Cloudveil!
