2017 marks the 100th anniversary of iconic marine painter Stanley Meltzoff's birth, and the Jackson Hole Art Auction will be offering six of his paintings for sale during Session II of the 11th annual Jackson Hole Art Auction, on Saturday September, 16th.

Mike Rivkin, author and angler, will be presenting "Stanley Meltzoff and the history of Big-Game Fishing," from 5pm-6pm on Friday the 15th in the Center Theater. Discussing both the history of the sport, as well as Meltzoff's artistic progression in relation to it, there will be something for anglers and art lovers alike!

"In 1960, a commission from Sports Illustrated changed Meltzoff's life. Always an avid diver and by now a celebrated artist, his series of paintings of striped bass conveyed a heretofore unknown degree of realism. Thrilled with the rave reviews, Sports Illustrated commissioned more series of gamefish paintings, as did the entire sporting media. Cover artwork for Field & Stream, Grays Sporting Journal, Sporting Classics, and Sports Afield quickly followed. By the time of his death, Stanley Meltzoff's artwork had appeared in virtually every major sporting magazine. His death stilled a brush that will never be equaled." - Mike Rivkin
