Climbing & Mountaineering

Experience Jackson Hole and Grand Teton from above! It's the sort of life-changing adventure that has been drawing climbers to Jackson Hole for a century with a pair of half-day adventures.

Mountaineering options are available to Jackson Hole visitors in both the summer and the winter, depending on the kind of climbing conditions you seek.

Top climbs

  • Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s Via Ferrata -- A fantastic introduction to rock climbing, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s Via Ferrata features 14 separate guide-led routes up steep rock faces through overhanging caves, and over swinging bridges for an airy, but beginner-friendly experience.
  • Middle Teton -- At 12,804 feet, the Middle Teton is more than 1,000 feet shorter than the adjacent Grand, but is much easier to climb. The route up the southwest couloir is technically 4th class—easy enough that most eschew climbing ropes—and leads you straight to the airy summit.
  • Guide’s Wall -- Jackson Hole's premier rock climbing route, Guide’s Wall, is a sunny, south-facing cliff rising 1,000 feet above Cascade Canyon. It features five pitches of moderate but adventuresome rock climbing topping out on a snaking 5.8 finger crack. Hire a guide or grab an experienced friend, clip in and enjoy the exhilarating views.
  • Snow King Mountain Resort's Treetop Adventure -- Located in downtown Jackson, adults and kids clip in and ride zip lines, shimmy over suspended bridges, scramble up nets, cross swinging logs, and even ride an aerial skateboard.
