Visiting Jackson Hole during the shoulder season? 

If you're visiting Jackson Hole during the shoulder-season when the roads to the National Parks are still inaccessible, and the ski resorts have closed for season, don't worry! There are still plenty of things to do in the area!

Here are some activities to consider:

  1. Visit the National Museum of Wildlife Art: This impressive museum houses over 5,000 works of art representing more than 500 species of animals.

  2. Explore the local breweries: Jackson Hole has a thriving craft beer scene, with several breweries offering tours and tastings.

  3. Attend a local festival or event: From music festivals to art fairs, Jackson Hole has a lively calendar of events throughout the year.

  4. Take a scenic flight: Get a bird's-eye view of the stunning Jackson Hole landscape on a scenic flight.

  5. Go shopping: Jackson Hole has a variety of shops offering everything from outdoor gear to unique souvenirs.

  6. Visit the Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum: Learn about the rich history of the Jackson Hole area through exhibits, artifacts, and interactive displays.

  7. Join a wildlife tour: Take a guided tour to see some of the area's amazing wildlife, including moose, elk, and bison.

  8. Visit local art galleries: Jackson Hole has a thriving art scene, with many galleries showcasing the work of local artists.

  10. Take a scenic drive: Take a drive through the beautiful Jackson Hole scenery and enjoy the stunning views and wildlife sightings.

  11. Take a dip in Astoria Hot Springs: Located just south of Jackson Hole, Astoria Hot Springs offers natural hot springs pools with stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

  12. Visit the Jackson Hole Children's Museum, which offers hands-on exhibits and educational programs for children of all ages.

  13. Check out the Teton County Library, which has a variety of resources, events, and programs for locals and visitors alike.

  14. Explore the National Museum of Military Vehicles in Dubois, which houses one of the largest collections of military vehicles and artifacts in the world.

It's worth noting that visitors can explore Grand Teton National Park starting May 1st, and access Yellowstone National Park's west entrance starting April 21st (although some roads may still be closed due to snow). The south entrance of Yellowstone opens on May 12th. It's important to check road and weather conditions before heading out, as early season conditions can be unpredictable.
