The Director of Events & Communications is responsible for oversight of The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce Communications Department and Special Events Department. This role is also responsible for managing the Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism Board Special Events Contract.

Objectives & Duties

  • Oversee the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce's annual schedule of events, manage event staff, produce successful events that meet department goals.
  • Oversee the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce's communications staff and communication efforts via the website, email, social media, press, and traditional media. 
  • Manage the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce's Special Events Contract with the Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism Board. This position coordinates the distribution of $1-$2 million of public funds, managed contracts with - 50 local events, and works with the JHTTB to implement new initiatives.
  • Manage the budget for the Events Department and the Communications Department.
  •  Sell & deliver event sponsorships and ad placements in Chamber communications. provide sponsorship and ad results to the member, and re-sell and up-sell when possible. 
  • Govern the Special Events Committee and research new event ideas that meet Chamber event goals. 
  • Govern the Fall Arts Committee and the Old West Days Committee to produce successful signature events in shoulder seasons 
  • Work with the CEO to generate long-term vision for the Events Department and document measurable goals that meet the overarching goals of The Chamber. 
  • Regularly evaluate communications efforts to ensure goals are being met. Adjust efforts as needed.
  • Assist other departments and Chamber programs as needed to meet organization's goals.

  • Other unique communications efforts as needed


  • 3+ years of management and/or proven leadership experience
  • Experience managing budgets
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage large, multi-faceted projects and meet deadlines
  • a self-motivated employee who is always looking to improve and inspire change


  • 1-2 years experience managing events
  • 1-2 years experience in communications or marketing

Bachelor's degree in hospitality, communications, or a related field
