Key Dates to Know

The 2026 election calendar includes several important milestones, from voter registration deadlines to early voting and Election Day.

May

  • Wednesday, May 13 – Party Affiliation Change Deadline
    The last day for registered voters to change or declare their political party affiliation.

  • Thursday, May 14 – Candidate Filing Period Begins
    Filing opens for candidates seeking State, County, and City offices.

  • Friday, May 29 – Candidate Filing Deadline
    Final day for candidates to file for State, County, and City offices.

July

  • Tuesday, July 21 – Primary Election Absentee Voting Begins
    In-person early voting opens for the Primary Election.

August

  • Monday, August 3 – Mail-In Voter Registration Deadline (Primary)
    Last day to register to vote by mail for the Primary Election. In-person registration may still be available, so check with your local clerk.

  • Tuesday, August 18 – Primary Election Day
    Voters select candidates who will advance to the General Election.

October

  • Tuesday, October 6 – General Election Absentee Voting Begins
    Early in-person voting opens for the General Election.

  • Monday, October 19 – Mail-In Voter Registration Deadline (General)
    Final day to register to vote by mail for the General Election. In-person registration options may still be available locally.

November

  • Tuesday, November 3 – General Election Day
    The final election day to choose officeholders. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
