Jackson, WY — In a town rich with history and character, few places have stood the test of time quite like The Virginian Lodge. This spring, one of Jackson Hole’s most beloved and enduring institutions turns 60 years old, and it's celebrating in true retro style.
On Thursday, May 1, 2025, The Virginian will host a 60th Birthday Bash at its legendary Virginian Saloon, inviting the community to honor decades of Western hospitality, local lore, and a surprising disco twist that helped define an unforgettable era in Jackson Hole.
60 Years of Western Hospitality
Since its founding in 1965, The Virginian Lodge has welcomed generations of travelers and locals alike. With its iconic neon sign, rustic Western charm, and unmistakable sense of place, “The Virg” (as many affectionately call it) has become more than just a lodge—it’s a symbol of Jackson’s wild and welcoming spirit.
The lodge has served as a backdrop for countless stories: from road trips and family vacations to wedding weekends and chance encounters at the bar. It’s a place where the Old West meets the soul of community, and this milestone birthday is a celebration of all the memories made—and those yet to come.
“The Virginian has always been a place where stories are shared, memories are made, and the West is still a little wild,” says Stacey Brogan, General Manager of The Virginian Lodge. “We’re proud to honor the people and the history that have made this place what it is.”
Unearthing a Groovy Surprise
While most remember the Lodge for its Western roots, few know about its glittery past. In the 1970s, the Virginian Saloon moonlighted as a disco dance floor, hosting funky nights filled with mirror balls and bell bottoms.
In 2020, during a renovation, staff uncovered a hidden attic room—filled with 175 vinyl records, featuring disco and country gems from before 1982. That discovery sparked the inspiration for this year’s celebration.
To bring those sounds Back to Life, DJ VerT-OnE will spin a live vinyl set at their upcoming Chamber Mixer on May 1st, transforming the Saloon into a retro haven. Expect everything from Donna Summer to Dolly Parton, capturing the spirit of the ‘70s and the soul of the American West.

This event is open to the community and will feature specialty cocktails, nostalgic décor, and stories from the past 60 years. While it also serves as the May edition of the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce’s Chamber Mixer Series, the night is truly about honoring The Virginian Lodge and its place in Jackson Hole history.
