Every year, as part of Old West Days in Jackson, WY, the Brewfest brings together a dynamic mix of the region’s finest craft beer—and Grand Teton Brewing has become a standout favorite. Known for its deep-rooted tradition and inventive releases, this beloved local brewery captures the spirit of Jackson Hole in every pour.

We sat down with the team at Grand Teton Brewing to talk about their Brewfest experience, the story behind their brewery, and what they’re bringing to the 2025 event.

Old West Brew Fest

What beer did you showcase at last year’s Brewfest, and what do you think made it stand out from the rest?

We had a variety of options last year, from our classics like Sweetgrass Pale Ale and Teton Range IPA, to our National Park Series like the Parks IPA and Old Faithful Ale, and our most popular beer last year was probably our Teton Breeze Strawberry Sour. I think what people love about our beers is that we've held on to some of those long standing names and recipes that our followers count on while also introducing some fun new ones along the way!

How did it feel to be named a winner at such a celebrated community event like Old West Days Brewfest?

It was so exciting! It was great to hear our name called out and receive the golden boot. And then drinking our beer out of it was an epic ending to the day. I felt proud of our team and our product and we had a lot of support from the fun crowd and our awesome distributor Jackson Hole Distribution.

What’s the story behind your brewery—how did it all begin?

Grand Teton Brewing

Our brewery was originally started by two brothers, Charlie and Ernie Otto in Wilson, Wyoming in 1988. Their flagship amber "Teton Ale" is still produced and popular today. Their success over the next few years created a greater demand for microbrews so in the spring of 1998 they broke ground for a new brewery at the base of the pass in Victor, Idaho. The proximity to locally-grown barley and Northwest hops, as well as nearby Teton glacier water, made for an excellent location. The name change from Otto Brothers’ Brewing Company to Grand Teton Brewing occurred in the Fall of 2000. In April of 2009 Charlie sold the brewery to Steve and Ellen Furbacher.

What does being part of Old West Days mean to you and your team?

Old West Days is so great because it's local to us and we get to see a lot of people that are familiar with our brewery and product as well as local vendors and other brewers we love to work with. It also draws in a lot of folks from out of town we can introduce to our brand as well. Jackson is such a special place and we love celebrating beer with all our fellow breweries right here so close to where it all started!

Will you be back this year—and can you give us a sneak peek at what you’re bringing?

We will absolutely be back this year and looking forward to it! We are most excited to bring the Huckleberry Madness, our new huckleberry wheat beer.
