The Jackson Hole, WY Airport will undergo a temporary closure April 11th through June 27th, 2022. The closure will allow for runway reconstruction and additional projects at the airport. The airport will be closed to both airline and general aviation operations requiring visitors who wish to visit Jackson Hole by air to find alternative transportation opportunities during this period.

Airport operations and spring flight airlines and schedules include April through June 28th, 2021. Ground transportation to Jackson is a great alternative to flying. Whether you fly into a surrounding airport and make the remainder of the trip by car or you're hitting the road from home, scenic drives and road trips through Wyoming are truly unique and special. Yellowstone Regional Airport: Cody, Wyoming

Mileage to Jackson: 295 Mi

The Yellowstone Regional Airport is a great alternative for the Jackson Hole Airport. The airport in Cody, Wyoming is a 4 hour drive from Jackson. Air service typically includes 2 flights a day year round with United service to Denver and beginning in May, two additional flights with Delta.

The airport has a full service restaurant 7 days a week May through September of the year. They are closed on Sunday the month of April.

Commercial ground transportation includes Phidippides, Cody Cab, Town taxi and Explore Cody Transportation. Approximate quote for a taxi is $585. Car rentals include Avis, Budget, Dollar, Thrifty, and Hertz.

Cody to Jackson via Yellowstone National Park

Mileage to Jackson: 112 Mi

May 14th onward, you can get to Jackson from Cody via Yellowstone National Park (YNP). The Drive is roughly 112 miles through YNP. You will
take US 14/16 via Buffalo Bill Dam and take the East Gate to Fishing Bridge. You'll then take West Thumb to US 89 and eventually go south to Jackson. It is a stunning and easy drive. Approximate quote for a taxi is $585.

Driving to Jackson Hole from Cody when Yellowstone National Park is still closed

Mileage to Jackson: 372 Mi

When Yellowstone National Park has closed, an alternative route to Jackson is required. The route is approximately 5 hours and takes you through Thermopolis and Dubois, WY. Notable places to stop in Thermopolis include the Wyoming Dinosaur Center and Wyoming Whisky, the first legally born distillery in the history of Wyoming. Thermopolis is also home to the World’s Largest Mineral Hot Springs, a natural, steamy attraction you don’t want to miss. Continue to Dubois and visit the National Military Museum, then stop at the Dubois Café for lunch and famous pie. Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport: Rock Springs, Wyoming 

Mileage to Jackson: 186 Mi

The Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport in Rock Springs, Wyoming is located just over 3 hours from Jackson. The airport has two regular scheduled daily flights to Denver via United Airlines. Other services at the airport include the MicroMarket and Free Parking.

Ground Transportation includes Avis and Budget rental and commercial shuttles upon advance coordination. Approximate quote for a taxi is $590.

Getting to Jackson by Ground from Rock Springs:

Mileage to Jackson: 187 Mi

Salt to Stone Route: 

Explore small towns and long stretches of wilderness. This route is great for visitors traveling from Salt Lake City into southwest Wyoming and north towards Yellowstone National Park.

Central Wyoming Regional Airport: Riverton, Wyoming

Mileage to Jackson: 159 Mi

The Central Wyoming Riverton Airport is located just under 3 hours from Jackson. Air service typically includes twice daily flights between Riverton and Denver International Airport. The airport also showcases free parking, WiFi and coffee cart with convenient short lines and hometown feel.

Car rental services include Priceless Car Rentals. Commercial ground transportation can be arranged with the Wind River Transit Authority between Fremont and Teton County. Approximate quote for a taxi is $540. Call in advance at 307.856.7118.

Driving From Riverton to Jackson Hole

Mileage to Jackson: 163 Mi

Just under a 3-hour drive to Jackson, the Riverton Route takes you by the Wind River Reservation. This area offers a cultural peek into the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho tribes, who share the wide-open spaces northwest of Riverton. The route continues through Dubois, where main attractions include the National Military Museum and famous pie at the Dubois Café. Continue your drive through Togwotee Pass and take in the visible sweeping vistas of the Teton Range from the western slopes of the past. The views don’t end there; approaching Jackson will bring you to parallel to the magnificent Tetons and Grand Teton National Park.

THREE OUT OF STATE OPTIONS (ADDITIONAL GROUND TRANSPORTATION REQUIRED):

 

Idaho Falls Regional Airport: Idaho Falls, Idaho

Mileage to Jackson: 90 Mi

The Idaho Falls Regional Airport is located roughly 2 hours from Jackson. The airport showcases year-round flights from Allegiant, Delta, United, Alaska, and American Airlines. Rental car agencies include Alamo, Enterprise, Avis, Hertz, Budget, and National. Shuttles to some Jackson hotels can be arranged through Salt Lake Express, Teton Stage Lines, and St. George Shuttle Services. Approximate quote for a taxi is $300. Amenities also include a full-service restaurant and WiFI. There are currently 16 flights leaving IDA a day, visit their website for time and destination details.

Getting to Jackson by Ground from Idaho Falls

There are two options to get to Jackson from Idaho Falls. Both are breathtaking routes:

  1. The first option is taking Highway 26/31 to Victor, ID, and then Highway 22 to Jackson. Here you'll drive through the beautiful Swan Valley, hitting two passes thick with forests and river bottoms. After Victor, you will head up hwy 22 or Teton Pass with dramatic imagery and sprawling views of Teton Valley. You'll also pass the iconic "Last of the Old West" sign at the top, perfect for your first photo-op.
  2. The second option is to take Highway 26/89 to Alpine, WY. The route will take you along the Palisades Reservoir. Look out for moose and eagles during the drive! After reaching Alpine, you will turn to drive up the canyon along the famous Snake River to Hoback Junction. Look out for Lunch Counter or Big Kahuna turn-offs. These are the two biggest rapids on the river, and seeing kayakers and surfers is not ordinary!

Be very cautious when driving these routes at night. Wildlife is highly active in these areas.

Salt Lake City International Airport: Salt Lake City, Utah

Mileage to Jackson: 278 Mi

Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport: Bozeman, Montana

Mileage to Jackson: 217 Mi

The Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport is located just over 4 hours from Jackson. The airport provides 30 non-stop flights in the US and connections world-wide. Getting to Jackson by Ground from Bozeman

Mileage to Jackson: 220 Mi

The quickest route to drive from Bozeman to Jackson is driving South through Ennis, Ashton to Driggs and Victor (ID) then over Teton Pass to Jackson Hole. The other choice of routes goes via Gallatin Canyon via Big Sky (a narrow and beautiful 2 lane windy and busy highway), West Yellowstone, Island Park then Ashton to Jackson Hole.

You can alternatively choose the Scenic route through Yellowstone National Park but the route is substantially longer but includes the scenic wonders of YNP. The West Entrance usually opens early May and the South Entrance the third weekend in May. Prior to this time, this route to Jackson is closed to vehicle traffic.
