Town Square Lighting: A Magical Holiday Kickoff
The holiday festivities in Jackson Hole officially begin with the Town Square Lighting Ceremony on November 29th, from 5 – 7 pm. Presented by Snake River Roasters, this annual tradition, held the day after Thanksgiving, brings the community together to witness the magical transformation of the iconic elk antler arches and the Town Square, as they are illuminated with thousands of twinkling lights. Visitors and locals gather to sip hot cocoa, enjoy holiday treats, sing along to carols, and watch in awe as the lights come alive, signaling the start of the season.
But the highlight for many? The arrival of Santa Claus himself—riding in on a big red fire truck, ready to spread holiday cheer to all! It’s the perfect family-friendly event that captures the magic of the holiday season.
Holiday Shopping in Jackson Hole
The holiday spirit isn’t limited to lights and music—it extends into the local shops and boutiques as well. Jackson Hole encourages everyone to shop local during the holiday season with Shop Local Holiday Weekends and the exciting Winter Windfall shopping promotion.
Local shops and businesses are full of unique gifts that all of your friends and family will love. Bank of Jackson Hole is happy to celebrate Shop Local Holiday Weekends with a Holiday Shopping Info Center on the Town Square each weekend between Thansgiving and Christmas. Stop by between 1-4 pm on Saturdays & Sundays for free hot cocoa and cookies, and visit the Chamber of Commerce staff for information about shopping promotions like Winter Windfall. Share the spirit of Jackson Hole by shopping locally this holiday season.
The shopping excitement doesn’t stop there. The Winter Windfall program runs through December 17th and gives five lucky shoppers the chance to win $1,000 in local shopping cash! It’s easy to participate—just shop at a participating business, scan the QR code on your receipt, and upload your purchase details. Whether you’re shopping for gifts or indulging in something special for yourself, this promotion encourages everyone to support Jackson Hole’s vibrant local businesses. Winners will be announced on December 18th, with shopping credits that can be used at participating stores through April 2025.
Santa on the Square: Holiday Magic for the Whole Family
One of the most beloved traditions in Jackson Hole is Santa on the Square, presented by Jedediah's. From December 14th to 24th, the town comes alive with holiday cheer as Santa himself sets up shop at the Stage Stop on Town Square from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM each evening. Families are invited to come meet Santa, share their holiday wishes, and pose for memorable photos. The event is complete with festive music, freshly baked cookies from Jed's, and warm cups of hot cocoa.
