When To Visit

Yellowstone National Park offers many different views and experiences depending on the season. Though the summer season is most popular amongst tourists, the shoulder seasons provide an intimate look at wildlife without the crowds.

But, visitors should know it can snow in the summertime in both Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. And, though that’s no reason to shy away from visiting in spring or in late fall, it does require better planning and packing to make sure you are properly prepared to handle extreme weather changes.

During the summer when all park amenities are open such as all the roads, trails, visitor centers, and lodging, it is much easier to plan for your park visit, and of course, knowing that a good bite to eat is or a place to fill up the car is open is pretty helpful too.
